Interesting question. Genetic modification is the process of altering the genes of a plant, animal or micro-organism, and then inserting a gene from another living thing. It allows genes to be transferred from one species to another, in order to develop characteristics that would otherwise be very difficult or impossible to achieve through traditional breeding.
